Grasses

There are a number of different species of grasses which are used depending on the purpose of the area and the climate. So for sports grounds, coarse grasses are used but finer grasses are used for ornamental lawns where the look is more important.

Cool season grasses

For climates that have mild to cool summers, cool season grasses are used. These have two periods of rapid growth in the sprint and autumn. The fasted growing temperatures are between 10 centigrade and 25 centigrade.

Warm season grasses

These only start growing above 10 centigrade and the fastest growth is between 25 centigrade and 35 centigrade. These types are often drought tolerant and can handle very high temperatures but not very low temperatures.
